DYHA Board Meeting Minutes
A regularly scheduled board meeting of DYHA took place on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 7:45pm at Stamford Twin Rinks.  Present board members were Todd Halloran, John von Stade, Art Flynn, Jeff Eccleston, John Fraser, Larry Paredes, Kevin Cassidy, Lisa McCarthy, Nick Hathaway, Dave Kreppein, Dave Johnson, Pete Canelli and Gigi Williams.
Midget Travel
A proposal for the 2013 Midget season was submitted, with full discussion deferred to January meeting.
Disciplinary Matter
The board discussed the disciplinary action and expulsion from the program of one travel player. The player expulsion followed several Code of Conduct violations and involved the consultation, agreement and recommendations of the Travel Directors, Legal Counsel and the President and Vice-President of the Association.  The player may reapply to the Association in writing, for inclusion in the program at the conclusion of the 2012-2013 Season.
Emerging Local Hockey Programs
The emergence of local Spring and Full-Season programs and one Supplemental program was discussed.  The potential for the dilution of existing CHC programs and the level of competition was raised.
CHC Update
Kevin Cassidy updated the board on the future admittance of “for profit” organizations into the CHC.
Concussion Evaluations
The topic of smartphone Concussion Evaluation applications was discussed.  It was agreed that USA Hockey materials for possible concussion evaluation be issued to coaches, and these cards are to be retained with the First Aid kit for ready access.
Concussion Policy
John von Stade will communicate November 2012 approved concussion policy to Travel Managers.
Nick Hathaway and Dave Kreppein will forward the return to play policy to House Coaches.
CEP Certification
Coaches CEP (USA Hockey Coaching Education Program) status for 2013 follow up was discussed.
Specifics regarding the timing of Spring tryouts for selected groups was addressed.  Pete Canelli will reserve ice on the basis of discussion.
Goalie Sessions
Response to the “Try Goalie for a Day” January sessions, offered by the association to Mites and Squirts, staffed by Pro-Crease, has been enthusiastic. Equipment to be coordinated with house and travel coaches.
Website content and updates discussed. 
Annual Voting Member Meeting
The board’s attention was drawn to the minutes as posted on the website. Status of action items arising from the Question and Answer session updated.
Other business
Lisa McCarthy will investigate helmet stickers for those teams and players wishing to show their support of Newtown, CT in the wake of the December 14, 2012 tragedy.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9.59pm.
