A regularly scheduled board meeting of DYHA took place via conference call on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 8:30pm. Present board members were Art Flynn, Lisa McCarthy, Gigi Williams, David Hill, Dawn Bryson, Mary Jo Dyer, Jeff Eccleston, David Kreppein, Mike Kadish
Art Flynn started the call by thanking the board for making themselves available for the meeting.
Girls Travel Tryouts
Jeff Eccleston provided an overview and insight into the outcome of the tryouts by age group. He also thanked the Registrar, Treasurer and Equipment Manager for their assistance with the smooth running of the tryouts.
U-12 Players attending the sessions tried out for a position on one of the 3 teams being offered by DYHA/Connecticut Ice Cats for the 2015-2016 season.
U-14 Roster sizes will continue to be set at 15 and 18 skaters for the U-14A and U-14B Connecticut Ice Cats teams respectively, owing to the proliferation of High School players in this age group.
U-16 Due to the growth in the program, a U-16 CT Ice Cats team will be added for the 2015-2016 season. Tryouts were held Friday, April 24, 2015.
U-19 With the extension of the CT Ice Cats program from U-8 to U-19, the U-19 team with a roster size of up to 20 will be formed for the 2015-2016 season, skating as CT Ice Cats.
To approve the Tryout selections as recommended by the Tryout Evaluators, a vote took place to approve 1 impact player at U-14A. With a quorum present and based on recommendations provided by the relevant coaches and independent evaluators, a majority of the directors that do not have a conflict with the matter submitted to a vote, unanimously approved the 1 impact player at U-14.
A proposal was made to accommodate House Girls and some Travel goalies on a separate Senior Minor House team. This team would also play an abbreviated schedule of 10 travel games and will qualify for a CGHL Season end tournament. The matter was put to a vote and,was approved unanimously pending an assessment of their competitiveness within Senior Minor.
Results will be posted on the website no later than April 29, 2015.
